Calculate recording capacity from user-entered camera bitrate, count, recording duty and usable space. These are estimates, not manufacturer-published camera bitrates.

Storage must already exclude filesystem/RAID/reserved space.

Bitrate is average stored megabits per second during recording.

Formula: Mbps × duty × 0.0108 = decimal TB per day, for each camera.

Estimated storage meets target

Daily storage: 0.173 TB/day
Required for target: 2.42 TB
Estimated retention: 23.1 days

Bitrate and recording duty are user estimates, not guaranteed camera values. Motion detection, pre/post-recording and encoding can change usage.

Enter genuinely usable storage after redundancy, filesystem overhead and reserves; the tool does not calculate RAID capacity or NVR model limits.

Enhanced Retention, recording limits, and model-specific camera/NVR support are not simulated.

Methodology and limitations

UniFi's own Storage and Retention guidance describes Enhanced Retention and storage management not modeled here. Motion-only recordings must include pre/post-event overhead in an entered effective duty factor.
