What reaches your bank account: your gross pay (basic pay plus allowances, overtime and second-job pay) minus PAYE, NIS and anything else taken from your pay, such as health insurance, a loan or credit union payments.
Pay As You Earn: income tax your employer takes from each pay for the Guyana Revenue Authority. In 2026 the first GY$140,000 a month, or 1/3 of your taxable pay if that is more, is tax-free. On the rest, after NIS and any child or insurance relief, you pay 25% up to GY$280,000 a month and 35% above that.
Your National Insurance Scheme contribution: 5.6% of your gross pay, up to a ceiling of GY$280,000 a month. If you earn more than that, your NIS stays at GY$15,680 a month. It counts towards your NIS pension and benefits.
Daily, weekly, fortnightly, monthly and yearly. GRA publishes the allowances for each period, so a weekly or daily payslip is worked out with that period's own figures, for example a personal allowance of GY$32,308 a week or GY$64,615 a fortnight.
- PAYE and personal allowance: 2026 rules, checked 5 Oct 2026 against GRA: Revised Personal Allowance and Deductions for Income Tax 2026.
- NIS contributions: 2026 rules, checked 5 Oct 2026 against NIS: Information on Contributions.
It should be close, but it is an estimate. Employers round differently and some deductions, such as union dues or pension schemes, are not included. GYCalc is independent and not affiliated with GRA or NIS; check with your employer or GRA for official decisions.
