Guest Wi-Fi / ICL-003

Hotspot session capacity

Estimate concurrent guest sessions and both WAN directions before choosing a captive portal or voucher policy. No router, controller, guest identity or live traffic is accessed.

Assumption-based, not measured. Per-guest Mbps represents a simultaneous full allocation. This model does not estimate RF airtime, AP client limits, oversubscription, portal licensing, vouchers, latency, QoS, speed-test throughput, data quotas or carrier terms. Confirm site and provider constraints separately.

Method: peak sessions = ceil(expected guests × peak %). Required Mbps = peak sessions × per-session allocation. Usable WAN capacity = provisioned Mbps × (100 − reserve %) / 100, rounded down to 1 kbps. The maximum simultaneous sessions are the minimum whole-session capacity across upload and download. All presets are illustrative and editable; no vendor or live-source claims.
